Orange Grove to get Another Chance to Continue Recycling Program
“The City is working to enhance our recycling and refuse capabilities in a way that uses taxpayer resources most wisely. We have been in contact with Orange Grove and explained the direction the City is going. We will be pushing out a bid opportunity for the management and workforce of the recycle and refuse centers and Orange Grove will have the opportunity to bid sometime next year when it is released.”
– Jerramy Wood, administrator of the Department of Public Works said.
Chattanooga officials say Orange Grove will get another chance to continue the recycling program for the city.
The city announced that they were ending the long time contract for their program.
But Orange Grove officials say that lost would cost almost 50 jobs.
And half of the workers have intellectual and developmental disabilities.
On Monday, city officials announced that the Orange Grove Center will get a chance to bid on the new contract next year.
They say they are putting the contract up for bids to save tax dollars.
