Millennials from California and Florida are fueling the population growth in Tennessee
NASHVILLE (WDEF) – A new examination by StorageCafe found that millennials and Gen Z are leading the migration trend to Tennessee.
Millennials make up 28% and Gen Z 25% of the 51,000 people moving into the state in 2023.
Hamilton is the fourth fastest growing county in the state.
Almost half of the new Tennesseans are coming from California.
Florida immigration was a close second.
Millennials are particularly interested in Hamilton County, because of the schools, easy commutes and larger homes.
All of the counties in southeast Tennessee saw some net growth in 2023.
The Memphis area and Blount County near Knoxville are losing residents.
