Fleischmann highlights local impact of 2026 Energy and Water Bill

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – Congressman Chuck Fleischmann stopped by Chattanooga today to highlight a major win for the region.

Among the many provisions included in the 2026 Energy and Water Bill, the federal government has approved full funding for the Chickamauga Lock Project, a long-awaited infrastructure upgrade along the Tennessee River.

Fleischmann says the bill delivers significant investments across multiple federal agencies.

“The 2026 Energy and Water Bill is incredible. It funds the entire Department of Energy and the Army Corps of Engineers. That includes full funding for the Chickamauga Lock Project. I put 213 million dollars into that project so it can be fully funded and finished. It also supports the Bureau of Reclamation,” Fleischmann said.

The Chickamauga Lock is a key component of river navigation in the Tennessee Valley.

Officials say securing full funding will help keep commerce moving efficiently and support long term economic growth throughout the region.
