The portal is open to apply for Education Freedom Scholarships for your kids in Tennessee

NASHVILLE (WDEF) – The application portal opens today for parents wanting to get in on the Education Freedom Scholarships in Tennessee.

You can sign up for the next school year beginning at 1:00 EST by clicking here (noon CST).

The Education Freedom Scholarship offers state funding to pay for parents to move their kids from a public school to a private school.

The first audit of the program found that fewer parents have signed up for the program than are qualified to do so.

The EFS program is still fairly new in Tennessee.

It has been open to some markets for three years now.

It opened to all counties just last year after passing in a special session.

Parents have until January 30th to apply or renew for the upcoming school year.
