Fort Payne active meth lab
Fort Payne Fire was called to a house fire at 65 Green Valley Circle NE Tuesday night.
Firefighters and police started that way, and the caller called back to say everything was okay.
Officials continued to the house and found heavy smoke coming out.
They went in to get anyone inside out, and found the active meth lab.
They had to be taken to the hospital for inhaling toxic fumes.
The home owner 51-year-old Lee Ann Sims and 28-year-old Jeremy Blake Tolbert were at the home at the time of the fire and were arrested.
They both face charges of Manufacturing of a Controlled Substance in the 1st Degree, Possession of Controlled Substance and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
The Dekalb County Drug Task Force came to the house to collect the evidence and remove the remains of the meth lab.
Officials say this meth lab was 3/10 of a mile from a school; which could enhance sentencing for the suspects.
