Hamilton County Health Department Employee Charged with Theft After Money Goes Missing

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — A Hamilton County Health Department employee has been charged following the disappearance of money from a safe.

The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) responded to the Hamilton County Health Department building, located on East 3rd Street on January 27 after employees discovered $1,100 was missing from the employee safe.

Anthony Meeks, a current Hamilton County Health Department employee, was seen on surveillance entering the building after hours, accessing the employee safe and leaving with an envelope, the HCSO says.

Meeks was taken into custody and is charged with: 

• Theft of Property Over $1,000
• Burglary
