Man Charged After Carrying AR-style Weapon into Court House
GRUNDY COUNTY — A man has been charged after bringing an AR-style weapon into the Grundy County Court House and pointing it at an employee.
On February 3, deputies responded to a call involving a man with a gun at the Grundy County Court House, according to the Grundy County Sheriff’s Office (GCSO).
They say a white male entered the Court House and pointed the weapon at an employee while walking in a stairwell.
Then he walked into a court room while proceedings were taking place and was then confronted by a Corrections Officer and on scene Court Officer.
After being removed, he was identified as Michael Hammond.
The weapon was then identified as a metal BB gun in the shape of an AR-15.
The weapon also had a removable metal magazine.
According to the GCSO, Hammond is being charged with:
- Disorderly Conduct
- Aggravated Assault (x3)
- Carrying a weapon(s) during judicial proceedings
- Harassment
