Theft Ring Disrupted in Whitfield County Possibly Linked to Multiple States
WHITFIELD COUNTY — A theft ring has been disrupted in Whitfield County following the discovery of $4,000 of merchandise in a vehicle.
On Monday, February 2nd, 2026, deputies with the Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office made arrests involving shoplifting at the East Walnut Avenue Walmart in Dalton.
Deputies were able to identify a vehicle connected to the incident after gaining information from the Walmart Loss Prevention team members, according to the Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO).
A member of the WCSO Crime Suppression Unit located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop.
During the investigation, deputies discovered more than $4,000 worth of stolen merchandise inside the vehicle.
The items were confirmed to be taken from Walmart locations in multiple states.
They say this indicates the suspects involved were part of a larger theft ring spanning surrounding states.
