Chattanooga police capture shooting suspect
Pernell Key, 30 was charged with aggravated assault, reckless endangerment and unlawful possession of a firearm.
According to police, Key shot Mark Parker in the 1700 block of Walker Avenue on the night of July 31.
Parker told police that he was walking toward Purnell and began to remove his shirt when Purnell reached into a bag and pulled out gun. According to police, the two men had "Beef" with each other.
Parker was shot in the hip but managed to run away while Purnell reportedly chased him.
Purnell was later arrested on an outstanding warrant when police tracked him down to a location in the 3200 block of Broad Street. Police also found a gun in Purnell’s possession that matched the description of the weapon used on Parker.
Purnell’s bond was set at $90.000. He has multiple prior convictions for theft, illegal drugs and bringing contraband into a penal institution.
