Police vehicles struck during traffic stop attempt
RED BANK — Police vehicles were struck during an attempted traffic stop earlier on February 26.
According to the Red Bank Police Department (RBPD), officers attempted to stop a vehicle on Dayton Boulevard and the driver took off, leading to a pursuit, until it stopped at the Wal-Mart on Signal Mountain Road.
They say as officers were attempting to take the driver into custody, the driver drove off, hitting a Red Bank Police vehicle and a Tennessee Highway Patrol vehicle.
The pursuit continued until the suspect vehicle stopped once again and the driver was taken into custody.
Charges are pending on the driver, Willy DeWayne Cunningham for the following:
- Aggravated Vehicular Assault
- Reckless Endangerment
- Evading Arrest
- Driving Under the Influence
