Vols Freshman Nate Ament Ruled Out Against South Carolina With Leg Injury

(utsports.com)— Freshman forward Nate Ament of the University of Tennessee men’s basketball team will not play Tuesday night at South Carolina.

Ament is out due to a right leg injury sustained Saturday against Alabama. The timetable for his return is to be determined and he will continue to be evaluated.

The Manassas, Va., native started each of the first 29 games of the season, averaging 17.4 points, a team-high 6.4 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 1.0 steal in 30.1 minutes per game.

The six-time SEC Freshman of the Week and one-time SEC Player of the Week has scored 15-plus points 20 times, with 20-plus on 10 occasions. A member of the Naismith Trophy Late Season Team, Wayman Tisdale Award Midseason Watch List and Julius Erving Award Midseason Watch List, Ament is one of four SEC freshmen in the last 20 seasons (2006-26) to score 28-plus four times in league play.
