A 75-year-old man has been charged after shooting his daughter in Rossville, Georgia.

On Sunday, March 8, 2026, deputies responded to a report of shots fired at a residence located at 1623 Mack Smith Road, Rossville, Georgia, according to Sheriff Gary R. Sisk.

They deputies made contact with William Woodall, a 75-year-old male, who was located outside the residence upon arrival.

Deputies entered the home and located the victim, Carrie Ann Woodall, a 53-year-old female, inside, still alive but suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the head, according to the Catoosa County Sheriff’s Office.

A neighbor had arrived prior to deputies and was rendering aid to the victim at the time officers arrived.

Emergency medical personnel responded to the scene and transported the victim to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.

During the initial investigation, Woodall admitted to deputies that he was responsible for the gunshot that struck the victim and the investigation also determined that Woodall and the victim are father and daughter, the CCSO says.

Woodall was transported to the Sheriff’s Office for further questioning.

They say following the investigation, he was charged with Aggravated Assault (FVA) and Possession of a Firearm or Knife During the Commission of or Attempt to Commit Certain Felonies.

The investigation remains ongoing and if the victim does not survive her injuries, additional charges will be sought against Woodall.
