Chatsworth man convicted of child molestation, cyber sex crime
WHITFIELD COUNTY — A Chatsworth man was convicted of two counts of child molestation and computer pornography on March 11, 2026.
Barry Alexander Gordon, 40, was found guilty in 5 minutes by a Whitfield County jury, according to Whitfield County.
They say evidence at trial demonstrated that Gordon sent a series of lewd text messages to one of the victims seeking to have sexual intercourse with her.
This prompted an investigation when the victim reported those messages to someone she trusted.
The messages also came from various accounts, with some urging the victim to delete the messages after she had received them.
That same victim then disclosed prior molestation by Gordon, Whitfield County says.
The victim and her sister were both interviewed at the Greenhouse and stated that they had been sexually abused by the defendant over a period of four years.
7 witnesses and 22 pieces of evidence were introduced at trial.
Also at trial, a recorded interview of Gordon admitting to sending the messages but doing so while under the influence of methamphetamine was played for the jury, Whitfield County says.
They say Gordon further admitted to sending the messages from the other accounts.
Gordon faces a maximum of 59 years imprisonment.
They say Georgia law requires at least one year of probation when convicted of child molestation.
