Soddy Daisy Receiver Tre Carter Opens Season With a Bang

Soddy Daisy, TN-(WDEF) Tre Carter is a three sport star at Soddy Daisy, and baseball is considered his best sport. But Red Bank might disagree with that assessment after Carter torched the Lions last week on the gridiron from his receiver position.

Just as football practice started this summer at Soddy Daisy, Tre Carter was still busy playing baseball. He was invited to a couple of leagues reserved for the top high school talent in the country.
Said Carter,"I went to East Coast Pro, the pro showcase, and I played for the Cubs team. And then I went to Area Code Pro and played for the Washington Nationals. We ended up winning the homerun derby while we were down there."
But when Carter traded his batting helmet for a football helmet, he continued making homerun plays. In the Trojans opener against Red Bank, Carter had nearly 200-yards receiving with four touchdowns.
"To be honest with you, I really don’t know what happened. I just kind of exploded. It felt really good to be back."
The highlight of Carter’s night was a manly stiff arm romp to pay-dirt.
"I made a deal with a friend of mine who is not on the football team. I told him I wasn’t going to go down in that game. I was trying to keep that promise to him."
Said quarterback Justin Cooke,"It surprised me when he just threw him down because he really doesn’t look that strong, but mentally, he really is."
Said head coach Justin Barnes,"He’s definitely a strong guy. It is surprising. One of the things people don’t realize is he is a long strider. He eats up ground with two or three strides. You watch him on film, and he may not appear that fast, but once you get him out in the open in real life, it’s a different ballgame."
Reporter-"What would you like to see him do or what do you think he can do?"
Chuckles Barnes,"I’ll take four more touchdowns every game. That would be good. For somebody to have four touchdowns a game is very unrealistic, but we’re just going to try to get him the ball anyway we can."
