Man arrested at school for threats

A man has been arrested after allegedly making threats toward a local business and the Monroe County Justice Center.

On Thursday, March 26, 2026, the Sweetwater Police Department (SPD) responded to information regarding a subject who had allegedly made threats.

They say that while officers were actively searching for the individual, a Brown Intermediate School SRO and an off-duty SPD officer observed a suspicious male on school property.

The school was placed on a soft lockdown as a precaution.

Officers then made contact with the subject and safely took him into custody.

The SPD says during the arrest, officers recovered a small metal baseball bat and a knife.

No students or staff were in danger during the arrest.

The subject was identified as Damarcus Taylor, who was charged with:
• Carrying Weapons on School Property
• Harassment
• Threats of Mass Violence on School Property
• Disrupting a Meeting or Procession
