One charged in Madisonville drug bust

An early morning search warrant has led to a drug bust in Madisonville.

In the early morning hours of Thursday, March 26, narcotics agents with the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) executed a search warrant in the Hudgins Mill community of Madisonville as part of an investigation into the distribution of fentanyl and methamphetamine, according to Sheriff Tommy Jones.

They say the investigation began after agents uncovered information during a separate narcotics-related case, indicating possible drug distribution activity at the residence.

During the search, agents located and seized felony amounts of fentanyl and methamphetamine, along with a large sum of cash.

Sheriff Tommy Jones says investigators also recovered multiple items commonly associated with the distribution of illegal narcotics, as well as paraphernalia used for ingestion.

One individual was taken into custody and transported to the Monroe County Jail.

Charges stemming from the investigation include:

Possession of fentanyl for resale
Possession of methamphetamine for resale
Possession of drug paraphernalia
