Three dogs receiving care after being abandoned, emaciated

Three dogs are receiving care after being abandoned in Walker County.

According to the Walker County Animal Shelter (WCAS), a concerned citizen called and reported three abandoned dogs were left at a cemetery on Sunday evening.

Once on scene at the McWilliams Cemetery, officers found two emaciated dogs, scared and hungry, running loose through the cemetery, WCAS said.

While animal control officers were attempting to catch the emaciated dogs, they heard a faint sound coming from underneath them in the drainage pipe.

Upon looking into the drainage pipe, they located an extremely emaciated dog who animal control officers are calling ‘Miracle’, just surviving, waiting, and hoping someone would come to her rescue, according to the WCAS.

Miracle, who was too weak to move, was rushed by officers to a local vet, where she weighed only 10 pounds.

These three dogs are now receiving the care, food, and attention.
