Chattanooga Airport launches new nonstop flights to Houston
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – Chattanooga is expanding its travel options with a new nonstop flight route.
The Chattanooga Airport, in partnership with United Airlines, has launched twice-daily nonstop service to Houston, marking a major expansion in air travel for the region.
Airport leaders say the new route is part of a larger effort to increase connectivity and create more opportunities for both residents and businesses.
April Cameron, President and CEO of the Chattanooga Airport, says the addition of the route was made possible through a combination of federal and local support.
“This route is supported by the Department of Transportation’s Small Community Air Service Development Grant, along with contributions from the City of Chattanooga, Hamilton County, and other local partners.”
United Airlines representatives say the new service opens the door to a wide range of destinations beyond Houston.
“This new service connects Chattanooga directly to United’s Houston hub, giving customers access to destinations in the Caribbean, South America, Mexico, and beyond,” said Zanell Roberts, Manager at United Airlines. “We are grateful for the collaboration with the Chattanooga Airport team. It is truly a pleasure partnering with you all.”
Local leaders say the route could have a significant economic impact on the region.
Ellis Smith, with the City of Chattanooga, says the connection between the two cities could strengthen business ties and tourism.
“Chattanooga and Houston are both pro-business southern cities, and this route between these two dynamic metropolitan economies can drive mutual growth,” Smith said. “They say everything is bigger in Texas, so I think we are all about to find out. On behalf of the mayor, the city appreciates United Airlines’ continued commitment to Chattanooga.”
Airport officials say this expansion reflects a broader vision to position Chattanooga as a more connected and accessible city.
They add that increased air service not only benefits travelers but also supports long-term economic growth and development throughout the region.
