Fleischmann says he believes United States in good position in Iranian conflict

ATHENS, Tenn. (WDEF)- We are hearing from Representative Chuck Fleischmann on the current ceasefire in Iran.

That ceasefire was reached Tuesday after President Trump threatened an escalation in attacks if the country did not open up the Strait of Hormuz.

Representative Fleischmann says that he supports the President’s actions and believes Iran is much weaker than it was a few weeks ago, and that the President should “finish the job.”

He also expects gas prices to begin decreasing soon as he says the U-S has a high domestic supply of oil.

Rep. Fleischmann said, “We need to keep the Strait of Hormuz open. We need to make sure that our allies get on board. I’ve been very disappointed in many of our traditional allies as they have sat on the sidelines and they should not do that. They know what Iran is doing and they know they’ve been a bad actor.”

The ceasefire is in place according to the President for two weeks.
