Home Stands at East Ridge Football Stadium Must Be Replaced
It’ll be quite some time before things will be back to normal at the East Ridge High School football stadium.
Parents recently complained to city officials about holes in the concrete and other safety hazards on the home team side of the field.
Hamilton county school leaders condemned the stands over the weekend and called a structural engineer to have a look.
The engineer inspected the stadium and determined the damage cannot be repaired.
Assistant superintendent Dr. Lee McDade says the stands are unsafe and will have to be rebuilt from the ground up.
There’s no indication how long that may take, or how much it’ll cost.
Some games may still be played..with supporters of both teams sitting in the southside stands.
The Pioneers home game this Friday with Signal Mountain has already been moved to the Baylor School.
