East Ridge High School hosts free community Health Fair
EAST RIDGE, Tenn. (WDEF) – East Ridge High School hosted its annual Health Fair, featuring a variety of free resources including health screenings, informational booths, and interactive demonstrations.
The event was organized by students along with a variety of community partners, giving residents access to health resources and information.
School leaders say the fair also highlighted opportunities available through the school’s medical education program.
Bri Fryer, one of the instructors at the school, said East Ridge High School offers a four-year medical program that prepares students for careers in healthcare.
She explained that students have the opportunity to graduate as certified medical assistants or pharmacy technicians.
Senior Timora Keeter said her passion for helping others inspired her to join the program.
“Honestly, I just like helping people, and I do not like seeing anybody struggle. I have struggled myself, so I want to help others because I did not always get the help growing up,” Keeter said.
Organizers say the event gave students a chance to serve the community while gaining real world experience in the healthcare field.
Fryer added that those who missed this health fair will have another opportunity later this year, with another event planned for October.
