Local felon found guilty of drug, firearm charges
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — 55-year-old Richard Allen Sr., a multi-convicted felon, has been found guilty on multiple drug and firearm charges following trial.
Evidence presented at trial showed that on August 15, 2024, Chattanooga Police Officers encountered Allen in the East Lake Courts Housing Complex and found him to be in possession of over 50 grams of a methamphetamine mixture, drug trafficking paraphernalia, and two loaded pistols, according to the United States Attorney’s Office Eastern District of Tennessee.
They say on September 6, 2024, officers encountered Allen again in East Lake Courts. This time, he was found to be in possession of over 21 grams of 99% pure methamphetamine.
He has been convicted of possessing 50 grams or more of a mixture and substance containing a detectable amount of methamphetamine with the intent to distribute it; possessing 5 grams or more of methamphetamine with the intent to distribute it; possessing a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime; and possessing a firearm as a convicted felon.
Allen faces a mandatory minimum 10-years imprisonment up to a maximum of life imprisonment.
