“The Iranians want to talk,” White House says

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said the U.S. has seen progress from Iran ahead of the potential new round of peace talks between the two countries in Pakistan.

“The Iranians want to talk,” Leavitt told reporters. “They want to talk in person.”

Asked if Iran had put forward a unified proposal, Leavitt said, “We’ve certainly seen some progress from the Iranian side in the last couple of days. Again, the president has made the decision to send Steve (Witkoff) and Jared (Kushner) to hear the Iranians out, and so we’ll see what they have to say this weekend.”
