City of Cleveland dedicates new fire engine for Station 5

CLEVELAND — The City of Cleveland has officially dedicated a new fire engine to serve the Candies Creek area from Fire Station 5.

They say the new apparatus, Engine 5, is a Pierce Enforcer equipped with a 515-horsepower Paccar engine and a 2,000-gallon-per-minute pump.

“Today we don’t just place a new apparatus in service – we strengthen our ability to serve, protect, and respond when it matters most. This truck represents not just an investment in equipment, but an investment in the safety of our community.”

– Cleveland Fire Chief Chris Bates said.

Funding for the new engine was approved by the Cleveland City Council as part of the previous fiscal year’s budget.

Following the dedication, members of the Cleveland Fire Department conducted a traditional Push-In Ceremony, joined by members of the City Council and City Manager. The Push-In Ceremony dates back to the early days of the fire service when horse-drawn fire apparatus had to be manually pushed back into the station after returning from a call.

They say the addition of Engine 5 ensures continued high-quality fire protection and emergency response for the Candies Creek area and surrounding community.
