16-year-old shot near Coolidge Park, investigation underway

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — A 16-year-old is suffering from a non-life-threatening gunshot wound after being shot near the 100 block of River Street on April 29, 2026.

According to the Chattanooga Police Department (CPD), officers responded to a shots fired call around 2:20 p.m.

Upon their arrival, they found evidence of gunfire and were informed that one person showed up at a hospital by personal vehicle with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. 

Preliminary investigation indicates the 16-year-old male victim was standing in a parking lot when someone in a passing vehicle shot him, according to CPD.

They say the vehicle left the scene at a high rate of speed.

This is an ongoing investigation.
