Cohuttua Police Department shuts down following emergency meeting

UPDATE: The Town of Cohutta will be holding a special town meeting on Friday, May 8, 2026 at 5 p.m.

According to the agenda, there will be talks about reinstating the Cohutta Police Department.

COHUTTA, Ga. — On May 6, 2026, our team arrived in the Town of Cohutta and were told by former officers that an emergency meeting had been called, one they say they were not made aware of.

Regarding reports of the police department being shut down, the town attorney says there is no comment at this time.
