Memorial Day Taps Ceremony Honors Fallen Service Members in Ringgold

RINGGOLD, Ga. (WDEF) – A special ceremony honoring service members took place tonight at Ringgold City Hall.

Community members gathered in remembrance of the men and women who never made it home from service.

News 12 spoke with Stephen Price, the bugler who performed Taps during the ceremony.

Price explained that the tradition holds deep personal meaning for him because his father served in the United States Marine Corps as a bugler.

Price said he is honored to take part in the ceremony each year and reflect on the sacrifices made by military families across the country.

“Each one of these flags is a family, and each family has a story,” Price stated. “Whether it is your dad, your mother, an uncle, a cousin, or a friend, there is meaning behind every one of these flags.”

According to Price, the tradition has been taking place for nearly a decade and continues to bring the community together in remembrance and gratitude.

As Taps echoed through the ceremony grounds, attendees paused to honor those who gave the ultimate sacrifice in service to their country.

The evening served as a reminder that behind every flag is a life remembered and a family forever impacted by the cost of freedom.
