Bridge inspection prompts lane closures on SR 156 in Marion County

The Tennessee Department of Transportation will conduct a routine inspection on the SR 156 bridge over the Tennessee River at LM 15.19 in South Pittsburg beginning Monday, June 1, through Friday, June 5, 2026.

To allow crews safe access to the structure, lane closures will be in place daily from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. local time, alternating in direction.

Flaggers will be stationed at both approaches to guide traffic through the work zone, so be prepared to stop when approaching the bridge from either direction.

Use caution when approaching the area.

Tennessee’s Move Over Law requires drivers to move over for highway workers and emergency vehicles. Violations may result in up to 30 days in jail and fines up to $500, according to TDOT Region 2.
