Traverse Park opens Saturday in Lafayette

LAFAYETTE, GA (WDEF) — A new park is opening soon in Lafayette.

Traverse Park on Villanow Street has an official ribbon cutting in June, but it’s opening up for business to coincide with the Honeybee festival this weekend.

The park features climbing and bouldering walls modeled after nearby Rocktown, and a skate park.

It connects with nearby walking trails, and also includes a disc golf course.

Jason Shattuck Director of Parks and Rec, Lafayette GA tells us, ” There’s an all inclusive playground there’s walking trails disc golf over at the outpost, which is kind of the hub where all the facility rentals are. The gear rental will be there behind. It will be an area that we’re going to do a slack lining program so we’re really excited about just what all this is going to bring to the community.”

You do need to sign a waiver to climb the wall, but there will be professionals there tomorrow to get you set up.
