Pops on the River returns as part of Chattanooga’s Independence Day celebrations
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – As Chattanooga continues preparing for Independence Day festivities, organizers say the annual Pops on the River celebration is officially moving forward despite rumors suggesting otherwise.
The free event is scheduled for Thursday, July 2, at Coolidge Park.
City officials say they have heard speculation that the event had been canceled, but they confirmed those rumors are false.
Pops on the River will feature live entertainment, including a performance by the Chattanooga Symphony and Opera.
Attendees can also enjoy food trucks, vendors, and a children’s activity zone throughout the evening.
The event is open to all ages and will conclude with a fireworks display over the Tennessee River.
Monica Kinsey, deputy administrator for the City of Chattanooga, said the celebration is designed to bring the entire community together.
“We’re doing a series of celebrations all right here in Coolidge Park and Renaissance Park,” Kinsey explained. “For us, it is all about collaboration. It’s all about welcoming and representing the whole community, making sure everyone feels welcome, comes out, celebrates America’s 250th anniversary, and that we stay united moving forward.”
Organizers encourage families to attend and take part in the festivities.
Pops on the River is free to the public and is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. on Thursday, July 2.
