Chattanooga Parks and Outdoors celebrates Father’s Day early at Miller Park

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – Chattanooga Parks and Outdoors celebrated Father’s Day early Saturday with a community event at Miller Park.

The free event gave fathers, and father figures a chance to relax and enjoy an afternoon filled with food trucks, haircuts, and family friendly activities.

Community Events Manager Malisha Carter explained that the event was designed to recognize and celebrate the important role fathers play in the lives of their families.

“This event means a lot to me. I am a daddy’s girl, and my grandfather meant the world to me. With Mother’s Day, we always see a lot of commercials telling people to buy this for mom and do that for mom. Well, how about daddy? We love daddy. We love our father figures, our men, our uncles, our cousins, and our brothers. We’re here to let them have fun and let them know how much we love them.”

Last year’s celebration was canceled because of rain, but clear skies and warm temperatures helped make this year’s event a success.

Carter said the city hopes to continue the celebration annually, giving fathers throughout the community a well-deserved spotlight.
