New red panda joins Chattanooga Zoo
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — A new red panda has joined the Chattanooga Zoo.
Willow is a 10 year-old Chinese red panda, who transferred from Houston Zoo about two weeks ago.
The Chattanooga Zoo says Chinese red pandas typically have a deeper red shade of fur, more distinctive black rings around their fluffy tails, and darker facial markings.
By contrast, Himalayan red pandas like Saffron tend to have lighter-colored features with mostly white faces.
