Man arrested after investigation into dogs in cages outside of Shugart Road Walmart

The Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office and Dalton Police Department has conducted an investigation resulting in the arrest of Nickalous Payton of Dalton.

A post on the “What’s Going on Dalton” Facebook page was shared and commented on hundreds of times, alerting law enforcement to multiple dogs in small cages outside of the Walmart on Shugart Road.

Based on the investigation at the scene, Nickalous was taken into custody by the Dalton City Police Department.

The Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office animal control officers seized the dogs to be transported to the Whitfield County Animal Shelter.
