Patriotic Celebration Brings History Alive

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – This year’s Independence Day edition of TVFCU Riverfront Nights is putting history in the spotlight as it partners with America 250 for a full day of patriotic programming at Ross’s Landing.

The free celebration begins at 2 p.m. Saturday and combines educational experiences, family activities, live entertainment, and an evening drone show.

Visitors can step inside a colonial village featuring historical exhibits and demonstrations designed to showcase life during America’s early years.

Guests can also take part in hands-on activities, including candle making and quilting, explore genealogy exhibits, and learn more about the nation’s history through interactive displays.

National Park Partners will also host an Independence Day Walk & Talk, offering guided tours through the history of the frontier settlement that eventually became Chattanooga.

Participants are encouraged to register in advance through the National Park Partners website.

Families will find several activities geared toward children, including colonial-era games such as hoop rolling, marbles, and graces.

Throughout the afternoon, the Sons of the American Revolution will fire ceremonial rifle volleys every hour from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. as part of the historic programming.

The celebration also includes performances by Voices of Lee and the 129th U.S. Army Band before the evening concert lineup featuring Courtney Cowart & Bad Matador and headliner Johnny Folsom 4.

The day concludes with a choreographed drone show over the Tennessee River.

TVFCU Riverfront Nights is free to attend and is part of the concert series’ 19th season, which continues every Saturday through Sept. 5 at Ross’s
