News 12 This Morning: Marlene Basham ‘Minnie Pearl’ and Landon Greer join News 12’s Amelia Greer as Hee Haw gets ready to spread laughs and music this weekend in Dunlap.
DUNLAP, Tenn. (WDEF) — A small town gem is getting ready to make its return this weekend.
The Sequatchie County Cancer Support Network puts on ‘Hee Haw’ each year to raise money for cancer patients in the community.
It’s based on the variety show by the same name that premiered on CBS in 1969.
The Dunlap crew is going on 34 years!
They raise between $40-50,000 during the three-day weekend.
Cora Lou Cookston was the visionary behind the show all those years ago. She passed away from cancer herself in 2013.
Her legacy lives on through the volunteers who make the show possible.
A silent auction is held outside the auditorium in honor of another trailblazer for the cause, “Mama Ann” Smith.
All the money raised through the show, silent auction, and local partners goes toward supporting those battling cancer in Sequatchie County.
Attendees can enjoy great comedy and music for just $10! Reserved seats cost $20.
Businesses around Dunlap will be selling tickets including the Bouffant Salon and the Dunlap Chamber of Commerce.
You can also find more information online.
Come out for a great show with a great cause July 9, 10, and 11 at the Sequatchie County High School!
