City of Athens to break ground on new fire station
ATHENS — The City of Athens will officially break ground on its new fire station on Tuesday, August 11, at 1:30 p.m.
The new fire station will expand the Athens Fire Department’s service area, allowing firefighters to reach emergencies more quickly and improving response times for residents throughout the community, the City of Athens says.
They say the facility will help ensure that emergency personnel can respond more efficiently to fires, medical emergencies, vehicle accidents, and other incidents, ultimately providing an even higher level of service to the citizens of Athens.
The City of Athens says the new station will be staffed by nine City of Athens, Tennessee, firefighters, including three new firefighter positions that were approved in this year’s fiscal budget.
The ceremony will mark the official start of a project that will serve the residents of Athens for decades to come.
The facility will be located at 300 Elizabeth Street, Athens, Tennessee.
