From Chattanooga to Champions

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – Spain’s World Cup championship is also a proud moment for Chattanooga.

Before lifting the trophy, the Spanish National Team spent more than a month calling Chattanooga home as it prepared for soccer’s biggest stage. 

The team chose the Scenic City as its training base, staying downtown at Embassy Suites and practicing at Baylor School.

During its time in Chattanooga, Spain players experienced the city’s quiet atmosphere, community support, and hospitality while preparing for the tournament. 

Local fans also embraced the team, showing support as Spain competed on the world stage.

The team’s stay created a unique connection between Chattanooga and one of the biggest moments in international soccer.

Spain’s visit also helped inspire a new generation of soccer fans in the area. 

Local leaders have pointed to the team’s time in Chattanooga as a moment that could leave a lasting impact on the sport’s growth across the community.

After completing its championship run, Spain returned home Monday as world champions, where thousands of fans gathered to celebrate the team’s historic victory.
