1 Dead, 1 Injured in Walker County Shooting

Rock Spring, GA (WDEF) – A Walker County home owner has been charged with killing one man and injuring another overnight.

The shooting happened at his home on Straight Gut Road in Rock Spring.

Sheriff Steve Wilson tells us it started when his step-daughter, living in a trailer behind the home, held a party last night involving three men.

The party turned into an argument, in which she got hit in the head with a humidifier.

The fight spilled out into the yard, with loud shouting.

That’s when her mother and step-father both emerged from their home with guns.

They fired warning shots into the ground and their car.

But as the three men fled, 52-year old Michael James Gobert, fired another round into their car.

One victim was hit in the head and killed.

The other was hit in the leg.

The sheriff says Golbert fired a total of 14 rounds.
