Family of missing Soddy Daisy man await identity of discovered body
The family of Brian Stewart, 33, spent all of last week agonizing over his sudden disappearance.
"One nightmare. I tell you it’s like there was no end to. This is like you’re in circles. Even the nights, you don’t sleep. It’s been horrible because Brian was a good guy," said Stewart’s Grandmother Rachel Smith.
The 33-year old man was reported missing last Sunday after he and a woman reportedly went into a wooded area near his Grandmothers home. Smith said she will never forget the moment when the woman ran out of the woods.
"She came bouncing down the hill yelling Rachel! Rachel! Rachel! Brian is missing; just yelling," Smith said.
Stewart’s grandmother said the woman explained how she realized Stewart was missing.
"She said they both went up there to sit down and talk. Then she said Rachel, I fell off to sleep and when I woke up, Brian was gone."
After Stewart was reported missing, Soddy Daisy police spent days looking for him.
On Saturday, someone close to the family reportedly found a dead body in a wooded area not too far from Stewart’s grandmother’s home. His grandmother told News 12 she believes the body is that of her grandson because it’s too coincidental that he would be missing for nearly a week then all of a sudden a body is found in an area he was believed to have traveled.
Hamilton County Investigators have not confirmed the body is Brian Stewart.
They’re waiting for the Medical Examiner’s reports to list cause of death. They are also waiting for the formal identification of the body.
