Rossville Blvd. stabbing suspect captured

CHATTANOOGA, Tennessee (WDEF) – A suspect who was wanted in connection to a near fatal stabbing last month is now behind bars.

Matthew Sisson, 45, of Chattanooga was charged with attempted first degree murder and aggravated assault.

Police believe Sisson is the person who stabbed James Gann on the night of September 28 in the 4500 block of Rossville Blvd.

Gann required immediate life-saving surgery at Erlanger after he was stabbed multiple times in the stomach and neck.

According to the arrest affidavit, several witnesses were able to identify Gann from video that was recorded.

The weapon that is believed to have been used during the stabbing was recovered several blocks away from where the incident occurred. The weapon was sent to a lab to be tested to make sure it was the weapon used during the stabbing.

When police questioned Sisson, he told them he was at the location during the time of the stabbing but also said he did not assault anyone. Right after Sisson was questioned; the victim was shown a photo lineup and identified Sisson as his attacker.

Sisson is now being held on a $300,000 bond.
