Child safety seat check

Chattanooga, TN (WDEF) – The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Safe Journey program is making sure soon to be parents and parents who already have children know the importance of keep their child properly restrained.

Coordinator for Safe Journey, Becky Campbell said, “Parents need to remember 4 out 5 seats are not used correctly. It’s not that they don’t care about their children. It’s because it’s complicated and there’s a lot to know."

According to the Safe Journey team members, Hamilton County has about an eighty percent of misuse of car seats.

No two car seats are the same. That’s why it’s important that parents read the owner’s manual to their car as well as the instructions for the car seat.
