$500 reward being offered for info about a theft
The items were stolen under the cloak of darkness from Mathews Used Cars on Harris Creek Road.
"They stayed here a long time. They went in every building here and through everything," said Business Owner Doug Mathews.
Two of the items stolen from one of the buildings on the property has both the owner and law enforcement worried.
"They went into my officer where there was a .38 pistol; they got it. They also got a .22 caliber Remington Rifle with a scope on it," Mathews said.
Fearing those weapons could be used to commit other crimes on the street, The Bradley County Sheriff’s Office has offered a $500 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the thief. Unfortunately, there is no suspect description thanks to an honest mistake by the business owner.
"I had a security camera on but who ever did it knew the camera didn’t have a tape in it. It was running during the time they were in the office and they could sit right there and look at it on the TV," Mathews said.
If anyone has information, they are asked to contact the Bradley County Sheriff’s Office tip line at 423-728-7336.
