Baylor Back in the State Playoff Semifinals Against Brentwood Academy

Chattanooga-(WDEF) Baylor gets a second shot at glory on Friday night. The Red Raiders are in the state playoff semifinals for the second straight year.

A victory over Brentwood Academy would lock up Baylor’s first appearance in the state championship game since 2011.

Baylor is back on the brink of advancing to the state championship game, and they’re hoping to avoid a heart-breaking sequel. The Red Raiders lost in the state semi’s last year to MBA 31-29.
Said tight end Gage Upshaw-"It was devastating honestly. We were up 14-0 going into the second quarter, and then we lose by two points to a team I believe we were better than. It was devastating."
Reporter-"How quiet was the bus ride home after that game?"
Said linebacker Ryan Parker-"No sound. You could hear anything. If something hit the ground. A feather could hit the ground, and you could hear it."
Silent night remains fresh on the minds of the Red Raiders.
Upshaw-"We were up, and we got a little too comfortable. I don’t think we can get comfortable this year. We saw last year that it can get taken from you. It sure enough did get taken from us."
This year, Baylor battles Brentwood Academy in the semifinals, who beat the Red Raiders 42-30 back in September.
Said head coach Phil Massey-"So for our kids, I think the extra motivation of having lost to them early. The fact that they are the number one team in the state. For one night, we have to beat them one time."
Seize the day might be the Baylor battle cry.
Massey-"For our underclassmen we tell them don’t take it for granted that you’re going to have this opportunity again before you graduate, so you better make the most of it right now."
Parker-"This is as far as we have gotten in my high school career. We really have to step forward and focus up."
