Recruiters Honor Signal Mountain Police Department

CHATTANOOGA, TN (WDEF-TV)-Chattanooga will not ever forget the tragic shootings on July 16th that took the lives of 5 service members.
While that was going on, other police agencies were making sure that military families were not threatened.
Army recruiters Wednesday thanked members of the Signal Mountain police department for what they did.

We know how Chattanooga police officers risked their lives to put a stop to the shootings at the training center.
And first responders were helping the wounded.
But when word spread throughout the area, local agencies did their part.
Army recruiters visited Police Chief Mike Williams on Signal Mountain to present a token of appreciation.

LT. COL. TONY PARILLI, US ARMY RECRUITING BATTALION "We came to thank him…to thank him for the incredible support that he continues to provide to soldiers and families of the Chattanooga recruiting company."

CHIEF MIKE WILLIAMS, SIGNAL MOUNTAIN POLICE DEPT. "Since the July shootings here, we come together to protect them in a civilian environment ..and they obviously protect us around the globe 24 hours a day, 7 days a week . You can’t thank them enough for that."

Signal Mountain police made sure families of military members were safe in their homes.

CHIEF WILLIAMS "At that point we didn’t know really what was going on ..what may come next …so yes, that was a concern..not just up here with our agency but with all law enforcement."
