One person shot outside Hixson gas station
It happened outside the Kangaroo Express gas station at the corner of Highway 153 and Gadd Road.
According to Chattanooga police, three women were involved in an altercation outside the store when a Kenneth Redman, 31, of Chattanooga, jumped into the fight. Redman was shot by another man.
According to police, Redman was struck three times in his lower extremities. Redman was driven to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
News 12 spoke to the late night clerk who was on duty when the shooting happened.
According to the clerk, the women got into an argument outside the store. The clerk told News 12 that a man whom police identified as a Redman, walked up to one of the women and punched her. According to the clerk, another man who was sitting in a car pulled out a gun and shot Redman.
The shooting reportedly happened in the area between the front door of the convenience store and one of the gas pumps. The clerk told News 12 the shooter drove off in an unknown direction.
According to the clerk, Chattanooga police officers collected multiple shell casings where the shooting occurred.
The clerk also told News 12 that surveillance video shows the gunman’s hand sticking out the car window while firing shots at the other man.
Police believe the shooter was driving a burgundy vehicle that might be a Chevy Impala.
