House fire on South Orchard Knob Avenue

Chattanooga, TN (WDEF) – Three people are homeless and one dog burned after a house fire on South Orchard Knob Avenue Monday afternoon.

Five Chattanooga Fire companies responded to the blaze.

A resident told firefighters it started in a shed in the back yard, but strong winds pushed it towards the house.

The residents didn’t even know about it until a neighbor banged on the door to alert them.

No people were injured, but a dog that was chained near the shed received burns on its hind-quarters before firefighters moved it away.

The blaze was under control in about 30 minutes.

Damage to the house and two cars parked in the driveway was substantial.

The Red Cross is helping the residents, and McKamey Animal Center is caring for the dog.

The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
