How Your Donations to the July 16th Shooting Fund Will Be Spent

CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – The National Compassion Fund is breaking down how they are handing out money to victims of the July 16th shootings.

556 donors contributed more than $467 thousand dollars through a website and text campaign.

However, most of the money was raised by the benefit concert featuring Samuel L. Jackson and Brantley Gilbert.

So this is how the funds will be distributed.

— $331,490 (71%) goes to the estates of the five victims who were killed.

— $61,877 (13%) goes to 3 victims who were injured.

— $45,968 (10%) goes to 28 people who responded to the scene for psychological trauma.

— $28,000 (6%) goes to another 28 military personnel claiming psychological trauma.

Each of the individual cases was screened by a federal expert panel.

This is NOT the money donated to the Chattanooga Heroes fund started by Peyton Manning and Sen. Bob Corker.

They raised more than a million dollars and that money will used for long term needs of the victims’ families.
