Alleged obscene shirt lands Crossville man in trouble
Joshua Frady, 23, of Crossville Tennessee was booked into the Hamilton County jail on Tuesday after failing to appear in court for a citation, but it’s the nature of the citation that has become the real story.
According to the complaint affidavit, the citation was issued back in September of 2008 when Frady was busted for wearing what police described as an obscene shirt.
According to police, Frady was on Market Street where he was inviting pedestrians to watch his band play at the Fathom Club later in the evening.
An officer noticed Frady was wearing a shirt that had the image of a nude woman engaged in a sex act. According to the officer, the caption below the image read “Vestal Masturbation.” The caption above the image read “Cradle of Filth.” According to police, the back of the shirt read “Jesus is a C–t.”
According to police, an officer was approached by a woman who said she was with her 10-year old son inside Panera Bread when her child pointed at the shirt. She told police she was furious about the image on the shirt being on display in front of her son.
After a complaint was made, police cited Frady on a charge of exhibition of pornography to a minor.
Frady was scheduled to go before a judge the following month but according to police, he never arrived in court.
Tuesday afternoon he was arrested on a warrant and later bailed out of the Hamilton County jail on a $2,500 bond.
His next court date is scheduled for January 28.
