Mark Mariakis Returns to Head Coaching Ranks at CCS
Chattanooga-(WDEF) We’ve got the coaching shuffle going on in Chattanooga.
CCS head coach Rob Spence has left to take an assistant’s job at UTC.
As a result, Chargers defensive coordinator Mark Mariakis has been promoted to head coach for CCS.
Mariakis has plenty of head coaching experience having served as the head coach at Ridgeland for over a decade.
Mariakis left Ridgeland after the 2014 season, but he wasn’t planning on being a head coach again so soon.
Said Mariakis,-"All my friends have called saying what are you doing? That’s a good question. It just feels good. I’ve had to turn down other things that looked very lucrative and nice. But now I see why."
The Chargers went 8-4 last season and picked up the school’s first ever playoff victory.
