Alleged x-rated assault inside Erlanger; suspect arrested

CHATTANOOGA, Tennessee(WDEF) – A Lafayette Georgia man is facing criminal charges in Chattanooga after authorities say he went on a Rated-X tirade inside Erlanger Hospital.

It happened Friday evening inside the emergency room but the suspect wasn’t booked into the Hamilton County jail until Sunday after he was released from the hospital.

According to the deputy who made the arrest, Elrod Matthew, 39, of Lafayette was a patient at Erlanger when he began to attack a female EMT technician. The staff immediately jumped in to restrain Matthew so he could be evaluated.

Moments after being restrained, Matthew reportedly pulled out his penis and began waving it at the EMT. According to the deputy’s report, Matthew then attempted to get on top of the EMT and urinate on her.

Once Matthew was cleared by doctors to be released, he was arrested and charged with assault and public indecency.

Matthew is now out of jail on a $4000 bond. His next court date is February 9.
